SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Exam 2024
Exam Hall Instructions
Allowed Items:
- Pen/Pencil and writing tools like eraser, sharpener etc.
- Transparent water bottle.
- Medicine (only with a doctor’s prescription).
- Hanky.
IDs to Carry:
- A government ID card – Aadhar is preferred.
- 2 copies of Admit Card (1 extra for future use, both may be retained by the exam centre).
- 2 recent photographs.
- Supportive documents if you have a mismatched name or DOB – 10th marksheet and an affidavit would suffice.
Things to Keep in Mind:
- Listen to the directions carefully.
- Avoid drinking water just before dictation to prevent sweaty fingers and weak pen grip.
- Don’t try to judge the dictation while writing – relax and keep going with confidence.
- Trial dictation is optional – no need to write it if not required.
- Typing the trial dictation is also optional – use that time to check all keys on your keyboard and report any issues to the invigilator.
- You’ll typically get 20–25 minutes of reading time to review your shorthand notes.
- Use that time wisely – read your transcription but stay alert to further instructions.
- During typing, ignore the noise – it may seem like others are faster, but that’s just an illusion. Stay focused and type at your pace.
- You may use pencil to circle tough words and jot them down in English while reading. After typing, erase them completely.
- SSC usually doesn’t inspect shorthand pads, and this practice is not considered cheating, but it’s better not to leave any markings behind.
